A Kiron Energy Group company

Security control systems for the places that cannot fail.

From the control room door to the fence line, Kiron Security Systems designs and builds the access control, intrusion detection and monitoring systems that protect nuclear power stations, grid infrastructure and other critical national infrastructure.

Products

Five product lines. One security architecture.

Every Kiron Security Systems product is designed to work alone or as part of a single site security system: a perimeter alarm cues the cameras, a radiation alarm holds the exit door, and plant data leaves the control network one way only.

KX-7 glass access terminal

Access Control · Flagship

KX-7 Glass Access Terminal

A sealed glass touch terminal with an integrated retina module for control rooms, data halls and restricted areas. Code plus retina at every door, an on-screen Scramble keypad that defeats shoulder-surfing, and session protection that limits how many attempts anyone gets.

  • Two-factor code + retina, up to 64 codes per door
  • Scramble mode: digits move after every attempt
  • Session protection and enforced entry spacing (firmware 4.x)
  • Per-unit service keys and challenge/response maintenance override
  • Rated to 10 Gy cumulative gamma for reactor buildings

The KX / KS access range

KS-DCP Mk IV

Stainless keypad door station with fixed or Scramble LED legends. Shares the KX-7 controller and firmware.

KX-5

Card + PIN reader for DESFire EV3, iCLASS SE and PIV, over OSDP v2 Secure Channel.

KV-9

Dual-custody vault keypad with time delay and silent duress for strongrooms and key safes.

KX-3Ex

Intrinsically safe keypad for Zone 1 / Zone 21: battery rooms, hydrogen plant, fuel stores.

Also available: KP-210 standalone weatherproof keypad for gates and outbuildings.

SENTINEL fence-mounted fibre sensor and interrogator unit

Perimeter Detection

SENTINEL PS-400

Turns standard single-mode fibre into a continuous intrusion sensor. Detects climb, cut and lift on fences and footsteps or digging along buried runs, locating each event to within 5 m.

Range
40 km / channel
Location
±5 m
Field power
None
HALO VA-6 bi-spectral camera

Video Analytics

HALO VA-6

Thermal and 4K visible cameras in one housing, with detection and tracking on the camera. Slews to cue on SENTINEL and door alarms so operators see the cause, not just the alarm.

Detection
600 m person
Thermal
640 × 512
Housing
IP67
GATEKEEPER RPM-3 radiation portal monitor

Radiation Monitoring

GATEKEEPER RPM-3

Pedestrian and vehicle portal monitors for site exits and goods-out. Gamma and He-3-free neutron detection, interlocked with the access control system to hold an exit until Health Physics clears it.

Gamma
25 L PVT
Neutron
He-3 free
Standard
IEC 62244
BASTION SG-2 unidirectional gateway

OT Network Security

BASTION SG-2

A hardware data diode with protocol proxies. Plant historians, alarms, syslog and files leave the control network for the corporate side, with no physical path back in.

Throughput
1 Gbit/s
Return path
None
Diode
CC EAL4+

How it fits together

Layered, not bolted together.

Most security failures happen at the joins between systems. Our products are built by one engineering team and share one alarm model, so the joins are designed rather than integrated after the fact.

  1. Detect. SENTINEL reports a climb on zone 14 of the outer fence.
  2. Assess. HALO VA-6 slews to the zone and classifies a person.
  3. Delay. KX-7 and KS-DCP doors on the route switch to code + retina.
  4. Contain. GATEKEEPER interlocks hold the controlled area exits.
  5. Report. BASTION carries the alarm record out of the plant network, one way.

Sectors

Built for regulated sites.

Nuclear

Vital area access control, radiation portal monitoring and fence-line detection, designed around nuclear security regulation and site licence conditions.

Power and grid

Substations, converter stations and control centres. Long fibre perimeters with no field power and one-way export of SCADA data.

Water and utilities

Remote, unmanned sites with weatherproof keypads, thermal cameras and alarm transmission over constrained links.

Data centres

Two-factor access to data halls and cages, with dual-custody control for key safes and media stores.

Assurance

Independently tested. Supported for the long term.

Our products are evaluated by independent laboratories against the standards critical infrastructure operators specify. Firmware is signed, every product has a published support lifecycle, and security issues are handled through a coordinated disclosure process.

  • NPSACAPSS listed perimeter detection
  • EN 60839-11-1Access control, up to Grade 4
  • IEC 62443Industrial cybersecurity, SL3 components
  • Common CriteriaEAL4+ data diode
  • ATEX / IECExZone 1 and Zone 21 equipment
  • ISO 9001 / 27001Quality and information security

Partners and support

Installed and serviced by accredited engineers.

We sell and support our products through a network of accredited installation and service partners. Partners are trained on each product line, and service partners are security vetted to work on nuclear and CNI sites.

Installation guides, release notes and service documentation are issued to accredited partners through the KSS document library. Datasheets are available from your account manager.
